InCadence Strategic Solutions is currently seeking a Sr. DevOps Engineer to work on our client site in Manassas, VA.  This exciting engineering work will include software development within the International submarine community. The Sr. DevOps Engineer will develop software for submarine weapons launch and submarine weapons control systems. This role will offer a wide variety of challenging tasks. The Sr. DevOps Engineer will support our projects all the way from the proposal phase, through implementation, test and sell off, and maintenance support. The Sr. DevOps Engineer will likely have the opportunity to support submarine weapon exercises on-board, in-country, in mission critical high pressure situations where they may have to solve problems in real-time. Areas of focus may include implementing a new feature of the weapon in software, debugging timing critical issues with the launch sequence, and/or working with the customer or government representatives to obtain details of weapon behavior. Day-to-day activities will include requirements gathering, designing and coding software, and troubleshooting weapons communications and functional issues. The Sr. DevOps Engineer will collaborate with other engineering disciplines including systems engineering, integration and test, and configuration management. The Sr. DevOps Engineer will have an opportunity to grow their skills and depth of knowledge by working alongside our submarine Weapons and Sonar systems subject matter experts.

Current tools/languages we are working with include Eclipse, C++, Java, Git, Gerrit, Jenkins, Coverity, gdb, and DOORS, in a Linux environment.

  • BS Degree in computer engineering, computer science, or closely related technical field or equivalent experience/combined education and 5 years of professional level experience.
  • Experience developing weapons launch and control systems, is required.
  • Proficiency with C++ and/or Java, and experience with object-oriented development in embedded real-time systems, employing multi-thread/multi-core processing is required.
  • Solid mathematical skills are required.

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills are required.
  • Secret security clearance is required. 
  • An MS level technical degree in computer engineering, computer science, applied mathematics, physics, or closely related technical field may be desirable.
  • Control logic knowledge and experience is desired.
  • Experience with torpedo communications systems and protocols is desired.
  • Experience with MK 48 Mod 4M, 6AT, 7AT, or ADCAP variants is desired.
  • Experience with the Harpoon UGM-84 is desired.
  • Knowledge of German made torpedoes such as DM2A4 SeaHake or the SUT 264 would be a plus.
  • Knowledge of submarine warfare and submarine weapons offensive and defensive weapons systems would be a plus.
  • Experience with development in a Linux environment is desired.
  • Familiarity with OpenStack, Gradle, RedHat, Integration, Puppet, Hadoop, Cloud, Hive, KVM, Docker, Mesos, Marathon, Switch network virtualization, Eclipse, Git, Gerrit, and Jenkins or comparable tools is desired.
